What differentiates a psychologist based in the community is that we work within the community. We step out of the clinic into classrooms and homes to work directly with our clients and their families. We partner Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs), public sector agencies and other professionals to identify needs and co-develop solutions for our clients. What this means is a stronger support and a more holistic intervention close to our clients’ homes.
Come hear our stories on our personal and professional journey, and what it means to be a psychologist and researcher based in the community.

Stress has the ability to rob us of our happiness. When stress spirals out of control, it can lead to depression and anxiety. Mindfulness is a scientifically-proven mind-body approach that will help enhance both physical health and emotional wellness, by training out minds to steer away from the habitual patterns of worrying and rumination.
In this talk, you will learn how cultivating mindfulness can help us to bring awareness into the stressors in our lives and help us manage our lives more effectively. Angie will share how mindfulness has been a key component of the programs that Brahm Centre offers in empowering people to create their own happiness. Eric will share more about his role as a mindfulness psychologist, as well as the opportunities and challenges of working in a non-profit organization.
At the session, psychology undergraduates will have the opportunity to interact with our MOE psychologists to find out more about the work they do and the career opportunities in MOE.
